BLUFFTON  - Visiting Ada defeated Bluffton 5-1 in a Northwest Conference softball contest Monday evening.

Bluffton fell to 2-7 and 1-1 in league play after the defeat. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the NWC with the victory. 

Ada senior Leona Dalton struck out 13 Lady Pirates to earn her fifth pitching victory this season.    

Dalton gave up just five hits and one run to earn her third straight win.

Kate Gundy was office manager at Celebration of Health

Bluffton College graduate • Memorial service at a later date

Kathryn "Kate" Jo Gundy, 62, died April 11, 2021 at her residence. Kate was born July 1,1958 in Bloomington, Illinois, to Roger and Arlene (Ringenberg) Gundy. 

Kate graduated from Flanagan High School in Flanagan, Illinois, and received her bachelor's degree in education from Bluffton College. After graduation, she did voluntary service and taught in Whitesburg, Kentucky. Kate worked at the Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center at Bluffton University and most recently was the business/office manager at the Celebration of Health in Bluffton.

Pirates stop Liberty Benton 4-2

Riley Busch smacked a triple, single and drove in a run

FINDLAY - The visiting Bluffton softball team split a non-league twinbill at Liberty-Benton Saturday.

The Lady Pirates ran their record to 2-6 with the split.

In game one, the Pirate girls scored two runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a 4-2 victory.

L-B led 2-0 after four innings. Bluffton tallied single runs in the fifth and sixth frames to tie it up, 2-2.

They then plated two more in their last at bat and held the Eagles scoreless in the home seventh to preserve the comeback win.

Kayla Hall was a 2012 Cory-Rawson HS graduate

Kayla Elisabeth Hall, 27, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at her residence in Findlay, Ohio. Kayla was born on May 23, 1993, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Jami Hall and Jason Davis.

She is survived by her mother and step-father who raised her, Jami and Keith Hall of Findlay, and her father, Jason Davis of Lima, as well as her two sons, Keaton Hall and Kasen Hall. Keaton and Kasen’s father, Shaun Ludwig survives in Benton Ridge.

Village income tax filing deadline moved to May 17

Conforms with state and federal 2020 tax filing deadlines

Village of Bluffton moved its 2020 filing deadline and first quarter estimate filing deadline from April 15 to May 17.

This conforms with the move made by the State of Ohio and federal tax filing deadlines for 2020 taxes.
