Bluffton schools accepting 2016-17 open enrollment applications

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District is currently accepting applications from students interested in attending the school district through open enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.
 
Students from any school district in Ohio may apply and enroll in Bluffton Schools tuition free.  Students are admitted on a full-time basis only.
 
Applications are approved annually on a first come, first served basis and approval is subject to grade level enrollment and educational programs.

Blanchard River Watershed Partnership newsletter on Icon

The winter newsletter of the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership is now on the Icon.

The partnership is involved in several programs related to the Blanchard River watershed area.

Bob Antibus of Bluffton is one of the partnership's board members. The newsletter is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Maple syrup season celebrated soon in Metro Parks

Several events are planned in February by the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. Those events follow:

On Saturday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m., the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District and will offer maple fest' volunteer training and pancake breakfast at McElroy Environmental Education Center.

Experienced and new volunteers are welcome to attend. Call 419-221-1232 to register by Feb. 18.

Bluffton American Legion observes Religious Emphasis Week by attending Baptist Church

The Bluffton American Legion will observe Religious Emphasis Week, Feb. 7 to  13. 
 
On Sunday, Feb. 7, Chaplain Donald Rock/ Morris Gorman of Post No. 382 announced that members of the Bluffton American Legion will attend services at Bluffton Baptist Church.

All Veterans and their spouses are welcome to addend the service, and the Legion asks veterans and spouses to be at the church at 10:30 a.m., services begin at 10:45 a.m.

BRWP sponsors rain barrel decorating contest

The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership is sponsoring a Rain Barrel Decorating Contest at the Greater Findlay Home Show Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, at the Findlay Village Mall.

Thirty-three Rain Barrels have been entered in this year’s contest.  All Rain Barrels will be on display at the Home Show on March 5-6.  Plan to stop at the Findlay Mall and vote for your favorite Rain Barrel.

The three categories this year are:
1). Agricultural Theme,
2). Watershed Theme and
3). General Theme.

Teens for Jeans collections in middle school this month

The Teens for Jeans campaign is happening right now in Bluffton Schools.

Donate your new or gently used jeans to help homeless youth in the area. You can donate every day during school hours, by stopping by the middle school office. You can also donate every morning at 7:30 a.m. in the MS lobby. 

The drive started Feb. 1 and continues until Feb. 26.
