Football: Pirates outscore Ada in 120-point shootout

Tucker Neff sets school single-game record of 316 yards eclipsing the previous mark of 309 yards by Josh Falk at Ada in 2009

ADA - No it was not a basketball game, but the final score might lead one to think that as visiting Bluffton defeated rival Ada 70-50 in a record-setting Northwest Conference football opening marathon on a warm Friday night.

Pirate senior fullback Tucker Neff rushed for a school single-game record of 316 yards. He eclipsed the previous Bluffton mark of 309 yards set by Josh Falk at Ada in 2009.

Author Ruth Naylor visit, collage workshop, Paws 2 Read, Lima Symphony, just for starters

Bluffton Public Library announced its October programming, which follows:

“Planting Garlic,” presented by Ray Person, Jr.  and hosted by the Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area, is on the library’s lower level on Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m. This program is free and open to the public. Register through the library to help us prepare accordingly.

Join Bluffton author and poet, Ruth Naylor on Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for an Author Visit at Bluffton Public Library.

Lady Pirate netters beat Streaks

Sophomore Ellison Pugsley completed a 3-0 singles sweep

ARCHBOLD - The Bluffton girls tennis team went on the road Saturday and defeated Archbold 4-1.

The Lady Pirate netters improved to 9-6 with the victory over the Blue Streaks.

Senior Erin Hotmire posted a double bagel 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles to improve to 14-3 this season.

Pirate junior Olivia Barnes also won in straight sets at second singles by a 6-3, 6-2 score.

Sophomore Ellison Pugsley completed a 3-0 singles sweep with a comeback 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at third singles.

St. Mary's Christian Preschool opens

St. Mary's Christian Preschool opened this fall at St. Mary's Catholic Church. There's still time to enroll youth ages 3 to 5. A morning class is from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. and an afternoon class is from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Contact the church for details at 160 N. Spring St., 419-358-8631.

Performs at chamber breakfast

Bluffton High School freshman, Amy Jebsen, performed during the Sept. 13, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. She is a student at Krysti's Music Studio. Each month a student from Krysti's performs during the breakfast.

Amber Seggerson, CNP, joins Bluffton Primary Care

She is accepting new patients

Amber Seggerson, Certified Nurse Practitioner, CNP,  joined Bluffton Primary Care, this month.

The practice is at 161 Garau St., Bluffton, and it is a division of Blanchard Valley Health System. She joins Dr. Leah Eiden, at this location.

Seggerson holds an associate’s degree from Rhodes State and bachelor’s in nursing degree from Ohio Northern University. She also holds a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati.
