Hilty Home craft bazaar Nov. 8-9

Hilty Home holds their annual craft bazaar on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9. The bazaar will be open on Friday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora.

The bazaar includes locally made crafts, baked goods, a silent auction and a luncheon.

This annual event is a fundraiser to support the Home's residential activities and programs.

University Spiritual Life Week

Pastor-author forum presenter Nov. 5

Melissa Florer-Bixler, pastor of Raleigh Mennonite Church, will share “Becoming Atheists: Worship Among the Gods,” during Bluffton University’s Spiritual Life Week Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The presentation begins at 11 a.m. in Bluffton’s Yoder Recital Hall. Forum is free and open to the public.

During the presentation, the Mennonite pastor and author will invite the audience to take cues from the earliest Christians to become atheists to the gods of our day: late-stage capitalism, white supremacy and religion-infused nationalism. 

Library holiday gift auction opens Friday

All packages will include a minimum bid and feature a special “Buy Now” price if a patron is ready to take it home at that time

Bluffton Public Library is ready for the holidays.

Its annual holiday gift silent auction starts Friday morning, Nov. 1, and continues through Monday evening, Nov. 25.

"This is a wonderful way to get your holiday shopping done all while benefiting your library and its community," said Jessica Hermiller, library administrator.

Jefferson Street nears completion

New playground equipment installed at Buckeye on Tuesday

Bluffton council will get an update on several village projects at Monday’s council meeting.

Among items on the agenda include:
• The Jefferson Street bridge will be grooved on Tuesday, as the asphalt was installed today. Also, on Tuesday will be street line striping. Once completed the roadway will open.

• New playground equipment for the Buckeye park playground arrived last week. It will be installed on Tuesday.

• Leaf pick up will begin this week.

• Twenty-six ADA curb ramps were completed in the village in 2019.
