Drive-up, drop-off food drive Saturday

Hosted by Riley Creek United Methodist Church

Riley Creek United Methodist Church, 7102 Road M, Ottawa, will conduct a drive-up, drop-off food drive on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Drivers will not need to leave their vehicles. Volunteers will collect the items and put them on a truck for delivery to the food pantries.

University gospel choir and jazz concert streaming live

Bluffton University’s fall gospel choir and jazz concert will be streamed for viewing at www.bluffton.edu/mus starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.

At 5:30 p.m., the conductors, will provide a pre-concert talk with audience members via Zoom. Visit www.bluffton.edu/mus for more information and to access the Zoom meeting.

Cupp re-elected as Speaker of the House in caucus meeting

Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) has been re-elected unanimously by his Republican colleagues to serve as Speaker for the Ohio House of Representatives of the 134th General Assembly.

Letter: USPS Operation Santa begins soon

For more than 108 years, USPS Operation Santa has helped bring joy to kids across the country. This year the magic of Santa has expanded nationwide with the digital Operation Santa online platform including, Bluffton, Ohio. 

But Santa needs your help. Please spread the word that children can begin sending in their letters. Also, customers can be one of Santa’s Elves by adopting letters to Santa online and anonymously, granting the wishes of children in need.

Christian and Barbara Luginbuhl Schumacher

Christian Schumacher was born Oct. 7, 1782, in Florimont, Alsace Loraine, France, to Hans and Catharine (Luginbuhl) Schumacher. Christian married Barbara Elizabeth Luginbuhl on June 14, 1810, at Chaluet, Obt (district) Moutier in Canton Bern, Switzerland.

HCAC Council of President’s vote to move forward to conduct winter sports competition in 2021

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) released an update regarding the league’s response to the constantly evolving COVID-19 pandemic on Friday, Nov. 13.

The HCAC Council of Presidents continues to weigh all medical information consistent with federal and state public health authorities, the NCAA, and institutional guidelines. Based on those current recommendations, the HCAC Council of President’s has voted to move forward with plans to conduct winter sports competition in 2021.
