Wear your masks proudly

Hi, we are Kayla and Willow Liebrecht

Welcome to the Icon's feature "Wear your mask proudly." We invite viewers to send a photo of themselves wearing a mask. 

It's a way to encourage viewers to wear masks when in public and to recognize those who are thoughtful enough to take the time to wear one.

My awesome teacher - Mrs. Fry

Thayne Bricker, Bluffton second grader, created this drawing of his teacher, Mrs. Fry.

Teacher Appreciation Week was May 4-8. In cooperation with the Bluffton PTO, the Icon is posting drawings of elementary teachers created by elementary students.

Today's BHS seniors in the spotlight

Here's today's installment of the Bluffton High School Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight. Each weekday until the end of May the Icon will feature photos and future plans for four BHS seniors.  Students will be featured in a four-set random order.

OHSAA girls’ basketball state tourney moves to Dayton

The University of Dayton Arena will host the Ohio High School Athletic Association girls basketball state tournament for the next three years, OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass announced Tuesday. Having hosted 125 NCAA basketball tournament games, UD Arena has been the home court for March Madness more than any other facility in the country.

27 village employees get raises

Council also reminds residents of clean up week and recycle-refuse cart disposal

Bluffton council provide raises for 27 village employees at its May 11 council meeting – conducted in a virtual format. The raises are effective Jan. 1, 2020.

It also established requirements and starting wages for members of its police department and village employees, full-time, part-time and salaried.

The salaries lists and details of employee requirements is attached in the May 11 council package at the bottom of this story. Details are on pages 19 through 27.

Virtual admissions info sessions set at Rhodes State

May 18, May 27 and June 2

Rhodes State will host Virtual Admissions Information Sessions as more students look to attend Rhodes State this summer and fall.  

These sessions will help students navigate the enrollment process to also include an overview of available online services, financial assistance and majors/programs.
