Two-Year Project Aims to Get Community Input on McComb’s Future

On July 4, McComb Region Heart & Soul  formally kicks off a project that aims to involve the community in planning for McComb’s future, Project Coordinator Joe Wasson announced.

Several programs take place in July at Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Joseph Beagle, director. Registration and more information is available at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, 419-358-4150 or on the web at www.bfronline.com.

3-on-3 basketball
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is open to high school students and adults. All games are played at BFR on starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 9, with one team emerging as the tournament winner. Cost is $75 per team.

Bluffton's senior artists prove their talents with awards at LeadingAge show

Icon viewers know that art abounds in Bluffton.

Several artist elders at Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio proved that fact through their winning efforts in the LeadingAge 2015 Northwest District Art and Writing Show held June 18 at Mennonite Memorial Home.

The following residents were winners in this year’s show:

First place – Della Salter, MSC Cedric

Second place – Harold Storrer, Keep ‘em Flying

John Estell recognized at American Society of Engineering Education conference

Bluffton resident, Dr. John K. Estell, Ohio Northern University professor of computer engineering and computer science, and ONU student David Reeping, a senior in engineering education from Richfield, Ohio, were recipients of the Best Paper Award, Third Place, from the First-Year Programs Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) during the 122nd ASEE Annual Conference held June 14-17 in Seattle, Wash.

Healthways SilverSneakers for seniors returns to BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation is now offering weekly classes through the Healthway SilverSneakers Fitness Program, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

“The program is for older adults and involves regular physical activity,” said Beagle. “Each class session lasts between 45 and 60 minutes held on Fridays at 9:45 a.m. at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.”
