Football camp

It's football camp time. Marion Pleasant High School Spartans spent much of last week on campus in a football camp. Here they are on the university field. It's now yet time for pads.

Blanchard Water Partnership continues montoring water quality in Big and Little Riley

The Blanchard River Water Partnership continued its water quality monitoring this summer, according to Phil Martin, coordinator.

He told The Icon, "We monitored 21 sites on the Blanchard River, Lye Creek, Riley Creek and Little Riley Creek. The spring monitoring was completed on July 5. The fall monitoring will done in late September and early October.

"Results can be found on our web site by August. Special thanks to Sarah Betts from the Hancock Park District and her intern, Ashton Stevens,for their help."

65 years later...here's the BHS class of 1951

They graduated from Bluffton High Schol 65 years ago. They are members of the Bluffton HS class of 1951, the smallest class in modern history to graduate. According to the 1951 Buccaneer 26 members were in the graduating class.

The reunion was July 23 at Maple Crest.

It's Community Vacation Bible School at Emmanuel UCC - starts Sunday night

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, is the host congregation to this summer's community Vacation Bible School.

VBS is from Sunday, July 24 through Thursday, July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.

It has classes for preschool through fifth grade. This year's theme is "Deep Sea Discovery - where kids will know that God is always with them!"

Beaverdam summerfest Aug. 13 - lots of raffle prizes

Beaverdam-Richland Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department hosts its annual summerfest Saturday, Aug. 13.

Events begin at 4 p.m. and go into the evening. Summerfest had homemade food and ice cream, kids bouncy rides plus a game trailer.

The band, Exploit, performs at 7 p.m.

At 9 p.m. will be drawings for several prizes

Lions Way-Augsburger Road pedestrian and bike path construction begins soon

Dick Ramseyer, president the Bluffton Lions Foundation and chair of Bluffton Pathway Board presented a $16,370 check to the village at its July 18 council meeting.

The foundation is actively involved in securing financial resources to construct Pathway system identified in the Comprehensive Bike and Pedestrian Pathway Master Plan. The Bluffton Pathway Board established by Bluffton council is responsible for implementation of the master plan.
