Josephine Cheney funeral service Saturday

Josephine Melvina Cheney, 85, died Feb. 9, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  Josephine was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Beaverdam to the late Thomas and Gertrude (Meeks) White. In December 1946, she married Earl K. Cheney Sr. who preceded her in death in July 2001.

Josephine had worked in the laundry department at Richland Manor.  She had also worked at ExCello-Airfoil Textron and Triplett Corp., both of Bluffton.  She attended Rockport United Methodist Church.

Attention elementary parents: Memory book order deadline Feb. 11

Attention parents of Bluffton elementary students. The deadline to order a 2015-16 school memory book is Thurday, Feb. 11. According to the elementary school website the price is $18 per book or it can be upgraded to a hardcover for $23.  

Here's some additional elementary school news from the website:

TESTING DAYS:  Second grade students will take achievement tests in math and reading the week of March 14.  New state tests will be given April 20-21 for grades 3-5 in English/Language Arts.

You may belive you have the best seat in the BHS gym to watch basketball games, but the best seats are right here at the scorer's table. This view is from the Bluffton vs. Ada girls' basketball game.

Pirate wrestlers runner-up in NWC event; BHS has four individual champs

Bluffton High School wrestlers finished second in the Northwest Conference wrestling championship held this past weekend at Paulding. BHS scored 243 points behind champ Dephos Jefferson with 271 points.

The Pirates led the way with four individual champions and three are underclassmen. Jefferson and Allen East each had three.

May 14 arts and crafts show registration form on chamber website

The registration form for craft vendors interested in having a booth at the Saturday, May 14, Bluffton arts and crafts show, is now available on the internet.

The registration form all the information need to have a booth is on the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce website www.explorebluffton.com.

On the left side of the home page look for the red box that reads "2016 Bluffton Arts & Crafts Show information."

Click on it and you will see the information.
