VB: It's Shawnee over BHS in 4

Tennis: O-G stops Bluffton 4-1

BLUFFTON - The host Bluffton volleyball team lost a close four-set match to Shawnee in their home opener Tuesday night. 

Bluffton fell to 2-2 with their second tough loss to a WBL team in as many nights. Shawnee improved to 3-0 with the 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, 27-25 victory.

Juniors Taylor Schwab and Kylie Stackhouse led the Pirate girls with 16 kills apiece. Schwab added eight digs and two aces with a block, while Stackhouse contributed a block.

For Abbie Parkins the hometown choice was the right one

Following graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in accounting and sit for the CPA exam.

Abbie Parkins ’21, an accounting and business administration double major from Bluffton, is getting as much hands-on experience as possible before she graduates.

Entering her fourth year at Bluffton University, Parkins is currently completing her fourth internship. 

“I love taking my knowledge and class work and using it in real-life applications,” said Parkins, whose internships were each in a different type of accounting – tax, credit, operations and general.

“I got a feel for which type of accounting I like best and which path I would like to take for my future.”

Taylor Steele, 27, of Bluffton, funeral arrangements incomplete

Taylor J. Steele, 27, of Bluffton, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at Promedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo. Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Donna Augsburger was a 1947 Pandora High School graduate

Donna Augsburger, 91, of Bluffton, died in Bridge Hospice at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020. 

Born Nov. 29, 1928, to Franklin and Dessie (Radabaugh) McCullough, Donna grew up in the Gilboa area. After graduating from Pandora High School in 1947, Donna attended Warner’s Beauty College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, married Clyde Augsburger in 1948, and worked as a hair dresser and later as a secretary at Hercules Tire, before dedicating her life to being a homemaker and the right hand to her husband on the family farm.
