ELIDA - The visiting Bluffton volleyball team lost in straight sets to Elida at their fieldhouse Monday night. 

Bluffton fell by a close 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 count to drop to 2-1. It was their third straight non-league road match to open the season.

Junior Kylie Stackhouse led the victors with 17 kills and two blocks. Meanwhile Taylor Schwab contributed five kills, 13 digs and an ace.

Setter Skyler Scoles dished out 26 assists and served a pair of aces. Kylie Monday mustered up 10 digs.

Soccer: Bluffton girls cage Bearcats behind Mittendorf hat trick

SPENCERVILLE - The Bluffton girls soccer team opened its Northwest Conference schedule with a convincing 5-1 win at Spencerville Monday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with their first win. The Bearcat girls fell to 1-1 and 0-1 with the defeat.

Reagan Mittendorf authored a hat trick to lead the Pirate girls to victory. She opened the scoring in the 10th minute, then added two more scores in the 29th and 49th minutes.

Bluffton students attended classes today for the first time since March. So, it was more than just the first day of school. It was the first day in school for five months. Jamie Nygaard obtained permission from the school to go inside classrooms and shares these photos with viewers. In this photo a first grader in Miss Unterbrink's class gives a thumps up. Meet the new teachers and staff

10 persons new to Bluffton schools this year

New staff members of the Bluffton schools were announced in the recent newsletter sent to residents of the district. Here is a brief sketch of each.

Abby Diller - Elementary Teacher
Abby Diller, the new 4th-grade teacher, graduated from Cedarville University in 2018 and began her teaching career in the 4th and 5th grades at Trotwood-Madison. Originally from Dayton, she married and moved to Pandora in May.

University welcomes 121st class of students as official members of the campus community

Bluffton University officially welcomed its 121st class of students as official members of the campus community during a virtual Opening Convocation Ceremony.

Watching via Zoom while gathered with their Becoming a Scholar first-year seminar classes, students were challenged by the message “Choosing your Impact in a World of Trouble” by Eric Kurtz, executive director of MCC Great Lakes. During his presentation, Kurtz focused on three big issues dominating the world.
