Betty Walters 1932-2014

 

Betty J. Walters, 81, of Mt. Cory died at 10:30 am Jan. 31, 2014, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Heidelberg, Miss., to the late Walter and Della Davenport.  She was married to Robert F. Walters who preceded her in death.

John Neuenschwander was a Bluffton High School graduate

John D. Neuenschwander, 69, of Pandora died at 4:13 p.m. Jan. 30, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born in Bluffton July 10, 1944, to the late Isaac and Marcella Basinger Neuenschwander. On Oct. 14, 1967 he married Janice L. Yager and she survives.

University student reflection: Hope for a post-‘Troubles’ Northern Ireland

Editor’s note: Chay Reigle was among 13 Bluffton University students who studied in Northern Ireland during fall semester 2013. The junior from Bluffton reflects on his experience here.

In some ways, my time in Northern Ireland wasn’t any different than my life here in Bluffton: I attended class, spent time with friends and churned out essays with crossed fingers and a weary mind. In either place, I slept way too little and ate way too many fried foods. In a broad view, the average day here and there is nearly identical.

Memorial service for Claude Boyer Saturday at First Mennonite

A memorial service for Rev. Claude F. Boyer will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Rev. Boyer died December 17, 2013. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 - 11 a.m.
