There's a shuffleboard court waiting for you - here's your chance to learn the game

You've watched the shuffleboard matches at the Buckeye Park courts. Here's your invitation to learn the game.

On Saturday, July 2, and July 9, at 1 p.m at Buckeye Park, the Bluffton Shuffleboard Club will host clinics for anyone interested in learning how to play shuffleboard.  

Clinic instructors are Steve Slaughterbeck and Jim Zink. Some of the topics to be covered include basic strategy, court preparation, shooting form and game rules.

The club encourages everyone to come and join in the fun.

Soccer day camp

The men’s and women’s soccer teams at Bluffton University hosted a soccer day camp June 13 to 16. The camp was open to girls and boys ages 5-13. The camp focused on helping youth players develop their foot skills and knowledge of the game by challenging them in a fun and encouraging environment. Each day included different topics and skill development for game play.

I've always been interested in trains, ever since growing up in Ada. I now live in Bluffton?
 
What do you do with the tapes?
I edit them and put then online for others to see.

Trinity Lutheran, Jenera, adds Tuesday service

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, has added an additional service for the summer. 

The Tuesday evening service, beginning at 7:30 p.m., will be a casual, abbreviated copy of the previous Sunday service. 

The Tuesday evening services will be held through Sept. 6.  Everyone is welcome, especially if you are gone over the weekend for work or travel.

Icon's rhubarb pie aged 1 year in the freezer

Try cleaning out your freezer. You never know what you’ll find. I did. I found a bag of rhubarb cut from last summer (2015 vintage).

It was encased in a global-formed block of ice and looked pretty shameful.

But, you know the saying, pour on some sugar – just a little – and suddenly you have the ingredients for a pie.

Recalling that quote, I went to work. This meant halting my cleaning job. Instead I put on my baking cap. Here’s what happened next.
