Remember field day?

This year's, on May 11, was like all the others. In the Icon's mind, Danielle Cross, Bluffton third grader, won the jump rope competition (even though there wasn't a competition).

Watch as she jumps rope 100 times. She could have continued, but stopped at the magic number.

Elementary-junior high b-ball camps in June

Bluffton Family Recreation, 2015 Snider Road, Bluffton, offers summer basketball camps for elementary and junior high youth in June.

A camp for first through fifth graders takes place Monday, June 13, to Friday, June 17.

Then, from June 20-24, is a sixth through eighth grade camp. Camps are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Jerry Tripp instructs the camps. Each camp covers passing, shooting, defense and dribbling. Campers receive a free t-shirt.

Registration is $45 per youth or $40 for BFR members. Sign up at www.bfronline.com.

Coming to Bluffton

Harrd Rock Llama Co., rural Bluffton, will bring some of their animals for display during Saturday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce arts and crafts show. The llamas will be on Vine Street. The llamas are owned by the Gerken family.

June golf clinic for youth at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, will hold a golf clinic for youth in June, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

Clinic instructors are Jerry Tripp and Nick Rackley and it is open to next fall’s fifth through eighth graders. The clinic will provide campers with new skills and correct forms to learn the game.

Clinic dates are Monday, June 6, to Friday, June 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The clinic takes place at BFR. Registration is $25 per student or $20 with a BFR membership.

Still lots on the middle school calendar even though the school year winds down

Brazilian and British soccer camps at BFR this summer

Two Challenger Sports soccer camps are scheduled at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, this summer.

TetraBrazil Soccer Academy takes place from Monday to Friday, June 6-10, for youth ages 6 to 18.

The camp combines training to music, learning Brazilian techniques, footwork, moves and training from Brazilian soccer coaches.

Registration takes place online at www.challengersports.com. Fees are $165 for half-day (9 a.m. to noon), or $214 for full day (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
