Memorial service for Elizabeth Dickey Lacy June 13

A memorial service for the late Elizabeth Dickey Lacy will be held on June
13, 2015 at 10 a.m., Collingwood Presbyterian Church, 2108 Collingwood
Blvd, Toledo, followed by a graveside service at 4 p.m., at Pleasant View
Church of the Brethren, 4950 N Thayer Rd, Lima. All who wish to celebrate her
life are welcome to attend.

USTFCCCA honors Chappell-Dick with another award

Make that two Athlete of the Year awards for Hannah Chappell-Dick (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton).  Eastern Mennonite University's middle distance runner has been named the South/Southeast Region Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Chappell-Dick also claimed the honor from the indoor season before winning the silver medal in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Mike Castro named All-Mideast Region

ABCA All-Region

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Capping off his outstanding career at Bluffton, senior Mike Castro (Reynoldsburg) has been named Second Team All-Mideast Region by the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association). Castro's monster year also saw him earn First Team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2015. He is the first Beaver to be named All-Region by the ABCA since all-time hits leader Kyle Niermann was recognized as a First Team selection in 2013.

Thursday afternoon cash mob at Curling Iron

Curling Iron, 129 N. Main St., hosts the Thursday, May 21, Bluffton downtown cash mob. Watch for the "Cash Mob" banner hanging in front of the store as a reminder.

Also watch The Icon for special offers provided by Curling Iron during cash mob hours of 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

In addition, all visitors to the store during cash mob hours may register for a $50 shopping spree.

Cash mobs are sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. The intent is to encourage shopping local and highlighting items and services available in Bluffton businesses.

Captain Aaron Schmutz speaker at Memorial Day ceremony

Bluffton's traditional Memorial Day activities take place Monday, May 25, according to Dennis Morrison of the Bluffton American Legion Post 382.

A parade will form at 9:15 a.m. at the Bluffton town hall, with a starting time of 9:30 a.m.

The American Legion  honor guard will lead the parade followed by the Bluffton High School band. Additional parade units will follow the band.

Sounds of Mexico

The sounds of Mexico floated over the Bluffton Arts and Crafts Festival, thanks to the musical performance of the Mariachi Guadalajara Band. The Columbus-based band performs regularly at Tu Puebo, who also helped sponsor the performance in Bluffton.
