Bluffton chamber's business showcase allows businesses to introduce themselves to university students

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual business showcase at Bluffton University is Thursday, Sept. 19. The deadline for sign up is Monday, Sept. 16.

The showcase is an excellent opportunity for chamber member businesses to display their products and services to Bluffton University students. Over 500 students will be in the Marbeck dining hall during the showcase.

100-word essay leads to an unusual journey to Peru for university alumna

When TOMS Shoes emailed her about a contest last winter, Stephanie Jankov didn’t know if she should enter.

She had been introduced to the company by Jill Schlabach, her former Bluffton University roommate, and liked its practice of providing one free pair of shoes to a needy child for every pair purchased. She later incorporated that commitment to making a difference into her teaching of freshman English students at Shelby (Ohio) High School, even offering—and buying—TOMS shoes as an incentive for class projects.

Soccer: BHS girls win third game

Bluffton High School girls' soccer team won their third game of the season, blasting Mohawk 8-0 at Bluffton on Aug. 30.

Halftime: B, 2-0 Goals: (B) Steinmetz, (B) Steinmetz, (B) Theisen, (B) Burkholder, (B) Koontz, (B) Koontz, (B) Spiridigliozzi, (B) Steinmetz. Assists: (B) Steinmetz (2), (B) Fredritz (2), (B) Theisen, (B) Koontz.

Shots on Goal: B, 29-8. Corner Kicks: B, 5-1,Saves: M,None; B,Barhorst (6)
