Women's Soccer falls to Earlham 2-1

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Earlham College in the HCAC opener for both squads on a beautiful Saturday, Sept. 30. Earlham improved to 5-5 and 1-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 1-8 and 0-1 in the HCAC.

Volleyball falls at Hanover in straight sets

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team fell to Hanover College (25-23, 26-24, 25-17) in the first Heartland Conference matchup of the season on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Beavers are now 9-9 on the season and 0-1 in the HCAC. After two tight sets, Hanover went on a 9-0 run in the third en route to the sweep. The Panthers improved to 13-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - In fine fall conditions, the Bluffton men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the All-Ohio Championship meet at Cedarville University, the annual coming together of all the colleges and universities of all divisions across the state of Ohio on Friday, Sept. 29.

Trustees announce presidential search committee

Dr. James Harder will retire on June 30, 2018

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees selected a search committee to find the university’s next president. The committee will vet potential candidates and will recommend qualified individuals for the board’s consideration.
 
“In appointing the search committee, we are using an almost identical committee structure as was used in 2005. This includes representation from: trustees, faculty, staff, a student, alumni, select church conferences, the Bluffton community and Mennonite Education Agency (MEA)” said Kent Yoder, Bluffton University Board of Trustees chair.

With a bald head and graying beard, John Parent, a Bluffton University student,  doesn’t look like a traditional student at first glance, and his resume looks just as different.

The senior English major with a concentration on adolescent/young adult education from Delphos, is not only a full-time student at Bluffton but also a husband, a father of seven, a full-time regional sports editor and mayor of Delphos.

Bluffton senior finds her calling in Romania

Working with children from Romania’s gypsy community.

Senior Katie Keesbury found her calling this summer, nearly 5,000 miles away from her hometown of Bryan.

The bible and theology major spent a month in Romania as part of her minor in missions, and while she received college credit for the international experience, she also discovered her next step in God’s plan. 

“I came away from the experience with the feeling that God was telling me “yes, you’re on track, this is exactly what I have planned for your future, and you’re doing what I want you to do,’” said Keesbury.
