Lincoln Highway Assn. meets May 20

The public is invited to attend the May meeting of The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association, which will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 at the Western Sizzlin Restaurant, 2721 Elida Rd., Lima.

Kathryn Basinger BHS student of the month

The April Student of the Month at Bluffton High School is Kathryn Basinger, daughter of David and Lora Basinger, Bluffton.

Kathryn has a GPA of 3.926. She is involved in Latin Club, Math Club, and the National Junior Classical League Latin Honor Society. She is also on the BHS volleyball team. 

She is a member at Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton. She enjoys horse back riding and running in her spare time. She had been awarded the American Legion American and Government Award.

Kathryn is currently undecided regarding her future plans for college.

Isaac Schumacher in Iceland cross-cultural experience

Isaac Schumacher, son of Tim and Janet Schumacher of Bluffton, is participating in a cross-cultural experience in Iceland, May 6-21.

He and other Bluffton students will explore the political history of Iceland, an island nation that has no standing army and does not take sides in international disputes. They will also learn about emerging energy technologies such as geothermal and hydropower. Participants will also visit Höfoi House, where a summit meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev was held in 1986.

BVHS Service of Remembrance May 18

The thirteenth annual Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) Service of Remembrance will be held at Parkview Christian Church, 15035 State Route 12, Findlay, on Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m.

The non-denominational memorial service will honor BVHS patients and residents who died in 2013. All are welcome to attend the service, which will be followed by a reception.

A crafty day

No rain. No 40 degree temperatures like last year. Just the right amount of sunshire and lots of people downtown. The 43rd annual Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce arts and crafts show attracted over 80 vendors and several hundred visitors to Bluffton on Saturday.
