Recap of February 26 Bluffton Council meeting

The Village of Bluffton council meets on the third floor of town hall, 154 N. Main St., at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.

The February 26 regular meeting of the Village of Bluffton Council included reports on downtown municipal parking lot planning, an AARP grant application and dealing with a “pinhole” leak on the north water tower.

Buckeye Park improvements survey is online

BVHS to open first Acute Rehabilitation Unit in Hancock County

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will soon open the first 12-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) in Hancock County.

James Steven "Steve" Clark worked at Paulding Exempted Village Schools

James Steven "Steve" Clark, age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Youngstown, OH.

Pirate Donaldson 1st team All-NWC cager; Ginther, Sommers 2nd team

The 2023-24 All-Northwest Conference boys basketball teams were voted on by the league coaches and released by the league office Sunday, February 25.

Second-place Bluffton placed one male on the first team, with two others making the second team.

Sharpshooting junior guard Marek Donaldson was named first team all-league.

Senior point guard Wade Ginther and junior wing Blake Sommers made the All-NWC second team.

The Pirates won 12 games in a row at one point, and finished the regular season 17-5 with a 6-2 league mark.

Crestview junior forward Wren Sheets was named NWC Player of the Year. Kevin Sensabaugh was named NWC Coach of the Year after leading the Bearcats to an 8-0 league mark and a second straight outright league title.

Gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora Area hosted 32 people at Bluffton's Community Garden for a February 25 program about fruit tree pruning. Jerry Suter of Suter Produce provided hands-on expertise. The group also shared that an OSU webinar about pruning will be held on March 14 with signup HERE
