Next Red Cross blood drive Feb. 7 at First Mennonite

The next Red Cross Blood Drive in Bluffton is taking place on Thursday, Feb. 7, from noon until 6 p.m. at First Mennonite, 101 S. Jackson St.  

February is American Heart Month and it is a good time to give and help patients who require blood.

Relay for Life invites local talent to perform

Bluffton Relay For Life is looking for local talent interested in preforming at the Bluffton Relay for Life.This year's Relay is Friday, June 21, at Salzman Stadium at Bluffton University. Anyone interested contact Edna Conkling at 419-234-4120.

Get ready for Bluffton PTO's Bakery Bingo on Jan. 26

G 14....B 10...(you know the drill).

Bluffton P.T.O.'s annual "Bakery Bingo" event is Saturday, Jan. 26, from 6-8 p.m. in the middle school cafetorium. 

"There will be lots of family fun, including Bingo games for a chance to win delicious baked goods," Allison Mittendorf of the PTO, told The Icon.

"Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle and basket raffles thanks to the generosity of local businesses and parent donations. Food concessions will also be available.

Community antique show and appraisal Jan. 23 at Richland Manor

Ann Stratton will offer antique appraisals during a community antique show from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Richland Manor, Swaney Road, Bluffton.

Food and beverages will be served and the event is open to the public.

Lima Locomotive Works talk part of Allen County Historical Society's annual meeting Jan. 27

Scott Trostel, nationally noted railroad historian, will present at program on the Lima Locomotive Works at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Allen County Museum, Lima. The presentation takes place at the museum at 620 W. Market St., Lima.

His presentation will follow the Allen County Historical Society’s 105th annual membership meeting, according to Dick Boehr of Bluffton, who is a board member of the museum.

Free fitness and wellness events planned at BFR

BFR Sports & Fitness will offer free classes, seminars, and recreational opportunities for the general public over a six-week time period in order to encourage healthy levels of activity, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.

This year’s Keeping Active wellness promotion will begin the week of Jan. 25 and continue through March 1.
