"The Shack" Maple Crest book discussion Jan. 25

"The Shack," byWilliam P. Young, is this month's Maple Crest Living Community's discussion book. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk of the Bluffton Public Library.

The book discussion is at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, at Maple Crest. The monthly book discussion is held on the fourth Monday of each month. More more information contact the Bluffton Public Librayr.

Winter storytime attacks the blues

Winter storytime themes are set at the Bluffton Public Library, according to Rikki Steingass. Storytime is for pre-schoolers ages 3 to 5. Sessions are Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

"The winter themes are designed to chase seasonal blues away," said Steingass. They include stories, songs, fingerplays, snacks and other activities."

Each session last about 45 minutes. Parents or caregivers must register their child at the front desk to participate.

Jan. 11 - Sneezes and wheezes

Jan. 18 - Winter bugs and blues

Free H1N1 vaccine given here Feb. 2

The Allen County Health Department will hold an H1N1 flu vaccine clinic at the Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St. Bluffton, on Tuesday, Feb. 2, according to Tonya Meyer, Center director.

The clinic is from 9 to 11 a.m. "The shots are free and available to everyone. If you have questions about the vaccine, please contact the Allen County Health Department at 419-228-4636," said Meyer.

New women's networking organization hopes to form here

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING TUESDAY MORNING AT JEANNE'S KITCHEN

A new women's networking organization hopes to establish roots in Bluffton this week. Women's Entrepreneurial Network (WEN) will hold an organizational meeting at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, in Jeanne's Kitchen, 112 Vine St., according to Linda Everhardt-Kardux, president of WEN.

Forget the snow - program offers fruit tree pruning tips

Forget the ice and snow. Think spring. A fruit tree pruning and spraying program will be offered at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Bluffton Public Library.

The program is sponsored by the Gardners of the Bluffton Pandora Area (formerly Bluffton Men's Garden Club). The program is part of the club's January meeting.

A master gardeners, attending the meeting, will share their knowledge with the group. Members will also bring new seed catalogs to disucss good and bad points about various companys.

The program is open to the public.

RSVPs required by Wednesday for free breakfast

Want an advance tip on this year's Super Bowl? Plan on attending the 7:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast in the third floor of the town hall.

Dick Price and Joseph Allen (he's the father of Bluffton Middle School teacher Robin Ault) will present a program on the Wilson Football Museum located in Ada.
