Pirates basketball fans hold on to your seats. 

Another dream team heads this way quicker than you can intercept a mid-court pass and score on a fast-break layup.

Coaches Chris Ackerman and Chad Osborne led this year’s 7th grade boys’ team to a 19-0 record. Here's part of the story:

What was the groundhog thinking?

What was the groundhog thinking on Feb. 2?

This month's temperatures so far range from a high of 61 - on the day after Groundhog's Day - to a low of 6 all of 10 days later.

Then, there's that snow and ice that caused so many delays. In all, we had 3.7 inches of snow and .38 inches of ice in a two-day period of Feb. 12-13.

Here's a look at the first 17 days of the month, provided by Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

University concert band performs Feb. 23

Bluffton University will host an instrumental concert featuring its Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in Yoder Recital Hall.

Under the direction of Dr. Roy Couch, assistant professor of music, the concert band will perform pieces featuring reference to diversity in American culture and a global perspective on peace.

Arlington barn fire on Saturday

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter responded to a barn fire on Township Road 184 in Arlington on Saturday afternoon. 

The Red Cross provided assistance for the immediate needs of one resident of an apartment in the barn, such as temporary lodging, food and clothing. Red Cross volunteers also provided canteen and relief services for first responders on the scene.

Many people save for retirement in a 401(k), which makes a lot of sense if it’s available where you work.  You can especially benefit if your employer matches your contributions and if you want to contribute to the higher threshold that 401(k)s allow.  (Employees could contribute up to $19,000 to their 401(k) plan for 2019 and anyone age 50 or over was eligible for an additional catch-up contribution of $6,000 in 2019.)

Community chili cook-off on Tuesday

Who makes the best chili in Bluffton? Taste tests and voting part of the experience

Bluffton's Community Chili Cook-off, with proceeds benefiting the Bluffton Community Assistance Program is from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Bluffton middle school cafetorium.

This is the fourth year of the event. A number of different chili recipes will be available for tasting, provided by individuals and church groups.
