Bluffton University trustees have leadership transition; grant tenure, promotions

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees has a new chairperson for the first time since 2001.

The trustees’ recent spring meeting was the last for Morris Stutzman, who retired from the board after 33 years, including the last 14 as chairperson. Kent Yoder, a trustee and Middlebury, Ind., businessman, assumed the chairperson’s duties from Stutzman, a Wooster, Ohio, attorney.

Bluffton Public Library announces July program schedule

Bluffton Public Library continues its Summer Read program into the month of July.  Participants of all ages are encouraged to keep reading and attending library programs that support learning, fun, and local heroism!  BPL has designated themes for each week of this year’s program in order to support and advocate for its community, and in July, the weekly themes are:
● July 6-11: “Superheroes, Sidekicks, and Villains” week
● July 13-18: “Superhero Training” week
● July 20-25: “Unmask Your Talent” week

Emmanuel UCC ice cream social July 17

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold an ice cream social from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 17.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.

Recipients of Henry P. Huber scholarships announced

The Henry P. Huber Scholarship Committee has announced the recipients of the 2015-2016 Huber Scholarship grants.

Greg Denecker, Superintendent of Bluffton Schools and a member of the scholarship committee, reports a total of $20,000.00 was awarded to 13 students.

The Scholarships are for students planning to major in vocational agriculture, or related fields of study. 

This year’s scholarship recipients are as follows.  An asterisk indicates the student was a Huber Scholarship recipient last year also.
