Allen County Visionaries awards go to Clyde Rauch and John Heathy

The Allen County Visionaries presented the Visionary of the Year Awards at their annual dinner Thursday night.

These awards are given to members of the Visionaries and members of the community who have worked to promote economic development and the betterment of our community. All proceeds from the dinner go to fund economic development efforts in Allen County.

The Visionary of the Year Award was presented to Clyde Rauch.

Apple dumplings and Bluffton Farmers' Market go together

Heather Theis and the Bluffton Farmers’ Market go back 12 seasons. She was one of the original market vendors.

After taking a break for a few years, this year she returns her business called “Hearth and Home.” That business involves bakery items and some crafts.

On a typical Saturday, customers will find her home-baked products at the market.

66th class reunion for BHS '49

Meet members of the Bluffton High School class of 1949. Members recently held a reunion.

Six members were not able to attend. Lois Lyman made the nine-hour trip from North Carolina.

Three BHS students recognized for Boys and Girls State participation

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 recently recognized Bluffton High School students who participated in Buckeye Boys State and Girls State this summer.

Misha Groman and Jack Burrell attended the American Legion Buckeye Boys State at Bowling Green State University. Kenzie Braden attended Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union.

Bluffton Lions participate in Sure Sight Eye Screening

Members of the Bluffton Lions Club participated in a Sure Sight Eye Screening at the Bluffton Elementary School and area day cares from Sept. 21-30.

Lions assisting were Ed Yeager, Barbara Plaugher, Arliss Plaugher, Elaine Harris, Tom Edwards, Jan Emmert and Mark Alliman.

Over 200 children have been examined to date with one more week yet to continue the eye screens.

Cold starting perennials topic of Oct. 6 gardener meeting

The Gardners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will meet at 6:30 p.m, Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Bluffton Public Library meeting room.

Ann Brickner of the Perennial Plant Peddler will discuss how to cold start perennials.
