The Beavers dropped a pair of four-setters to Transylvania and Trine on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, During Homecoming weekend. Bluffton fell to 8-12 overall and 0-1 in the Heartland Conference. 

Transylvania took the first two sets convincingly before Bluffton showed out with a 25-18 victory in set three. The visitors fired back with a 25-20 win to take the Heartland Conference lidlifter for both teams.

The Bluffton boys cross country team came in a strong second at the big Wildcat Invitational meet Saturday, October 2, on the grounds of the Kalida Fish and Game Club.

Pirate Landon Armstrong posted the top Bluffton finish by coming in third overall among 111 runners at 16:48.5.

Allen East senior Hunter Sidle won the boys race in 16:41.1.

Lincolnview captured the 20-school boys team competition with 67 points. Bluffton finished second with 90, just ahead of St. Marys (90) due to winning the sixth/seventh man tiebreaker.

Playing at home, the Bluffton girls soccer team stymied Kalida 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate girls improved to 10-2-1 overall with the decisive non-league win. Bluffton has posted an 8-0-1 record in its last nine matches.

Kalida dropped to 4-6-2 with the shutout loss.

Senior Reagan Mittendorf scored in the fourth and 17th minutes to shoot Bluffton to an early 2-0 lead, and they were never threatened.

Ella Armstrong assisted on the first goal, while Makayla Schweingruber dealt the helper on the second score.

Playing at home, the Bluffton girls soccer team defeated Upper Sandusky 6-1 Thursday, September 30, at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate girls improved to 9-2-1 overall with the convincing non-league victory. Bluffton has gone 7-0-1 in its last eight matches.

US fell to 5-5-1 with the lopsided loss.

Junior Sami Scoles scored in the second minute of play off an Allison Diller assist to put the Pirates on top for good early.

Senior Reagan Mittendorf made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 12th minute.

The Bluffton volleyball team lost a close five-setter at home to state-ranked Lincolnview in a Northwest Conference battle Thursday evening, September 30.

The Lady Pirates fell to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the NWC with the 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-12 defeat.

Lincolnview, ranked 16th in the Ohio Div. IV poll, improved to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the NWC with the hard-fought victory. The teams traded set wins as Lincolnview took the first, third and fifth sets.

Visiting Leipsic rallied from an early deficit to defeat Bluffton 28-14 in a Northwest Conference clash Friday night, October 1, at Harmon Field. (BHS video coverage at https://youtu.be/fcSMEeNsspI)

The Pirates led 6-0 after one period, but then the Vikings reeled off 28 unanswered points to build an insurmountable cushion. Bluffton tallied a mid-fourth period touchdown to reduce the final margin to 14. 

Leipsic quarterback Dillon Niese threw four touchdown passes to pace the victors.
