Hanover College was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women's All-Sports Champion following the 2019-20 campaign. The Panthers accumulated 62.3 points in the standings to garner the award, capturing their ninth overall women's title.

Isaac Spar $500 scholarship recipient • Melissa Gossard in this year's induction class

FROM ADA ICON - Isaac Spar of Ada High School and Trey Jefferies of Kenton High School are each recipients of a $500 scholarship from the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made by Wes Davis, sports hall director, and Robert Simmons, scholarship chairperson.

The sports hall honors outstanding athletes, teams, individuals and groups who have made contributions on and off the athletic field.

Baylor Garmatter and Libby Schaadt were named the 2020 Jim “Cappy” Clark winners, recognizing them as the most outstanding athletes in this year’s senior class at Bluffton High School.

Softball: Three year player; team MVP as a freshman. As a junior, NWC player of the year; first team district; broke her own school strikeout record; set school home run record; second team all-state.

Board of Directors approves expansion from 8 to 12 qualifiers per region

During its May meeting Wednesday afternoon, the Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors voted unanimously to expand the OHSAA football playoffs from eight schools per region to 12 beginning in the 2021 season. The 9-0 affirmative vote was given to a recommendation from the OHSAA staff, which was based on a proposal from the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.

All Bluffton sports schedules released, posted below

The BHS fall sports scene just got more interesting.

Fall 2020 Bluffton High School sports schedules were released this month and the BHS boys’ soccer team added two traditional heavyweights to its regular season schedule.

Bluffton will travel to Division I Perrysburg on Thursday, Sept. 10. And, the Pirates will entertain perennial-power Ottawa Hills on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Pirate fans will recall last fall that Bluffton bumped Ottawa Hills 4-2 in the regional finals to advance to its first-ever Division III state meet in Columbus.

The University of Dayton Arena will host the Ohio High School Athletic Association girls basketball state tournament for the next three years, OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass announced Tuesday. Having hosted 125 NCAA basketball tournament games, UD Arena has been the home court for March Madness more than any other facility in the country.
