Bluffton American Legion observes Religious Emphasis Week by attending Baptist Church

The Bluffton American Legion will observe Religious Emphasis Week, Feb. 7 to  13. 
 
On Sunday, Feb. 7, Chaplain Donald Rock/ Morris Gorman of Post No. 382 announced that members of the Bluffton American Legion will attend services at Bluffton Baptist Church.

All Veterans and their spouses are welcome to addend the service, and the Legion asks veterans and spouses to be at the church at 10:30 a.m., services begin at 10:45 a.m.

Red Cross blood drive Feb. 4 at First Mennonite Church

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, on Thursday, Feb. 4, from 1-6 p.m. 

If you wish to donate blood, please call 1-800-RED Cross or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “fmenncbl.” Walk-ins are also welcome.

Remember to bring your donor card, driver's license or two other forms of ID.

First Mennonite Church is located at 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton.

Tickets on sale for Feb. 10 First United Methodist youth spaghetti dinner

The Bluffton First United Methodist Church Youth will hold their annual baked spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the church Fellowship Hall.

All students in the middle school and high school classes will be selling tickets through Feb. 5. 

Tickets are $7 each and includes baked spaghetti, salad, bread stick and drink.
Desserts will be available for a donation.

Mornings with Mommy planned at Trinity Lutheran, Jenera

Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, is the location of a Mornings with Mommy held the first and third Monday of the month starting, Monday,  Jan. 18, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  The scheduled dates are:

This winter and spring's meeting dates are: Jan. 18, Feb. 1 and 15, March 7 and 21, April 4 and 18, May 2 and 16.

How the program works:
Educational play-dates with Mommy for infants through preschool (Ages 0-5). Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, and nannies are welcome, too.

Jan. 17 Bluffton Area Ministerial Association pulpit exchange

In conjunction with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association will hold its annual pulpit exchange, Sunday, Jan.17, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr.
 
Churches and ministries participating this year are:
• Bill Herr of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, preaching at English Lutheran Church 
• Pastor Kevin Mohr of English Lutheran, preaching at St. John's United Church of Christ 
• Pastor Carol Clements of St. John's UCC, preaching at Bluffton Presbyterian

First Mennonite: Morning services feature seminary pastor; former member of Christian Peacemaker Teams speaks in evening

Janeen Bertsche Johnson, Campus Pastor of Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, Ind., will preach during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, Jan. 10 at First Mennonite Church, 301 N. Jackson St., Bluffton. Her sermon title is “Seeing Ourselves in the Other.”

During the 9:15 a.m. Sunday school hour, Bertsche Johnson will reflect on a learning tour of Israel/Palestine in which she participated in November 2015. She was one of six pastors from the Central District Conference of the Mennonite Church USA who attended the tour led by the Mennonite Central Committee.
