Bob's incredible milestone

On Nov. 7, Bob Neff, life-long Bluffton resident, passed a milestone achieved by only a handful of world residents. He celebrated the 30th anniversary of having a heart transplant. The story below tells about that event.

All-HCAC Men's Soccer awards announced

All-HCAC release

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Heartland Conference has announced its All-HCAC selections following the 2015 men's soccer season. A pair of Beavers earned Honorable Mention selection as voted on by the head coaches prior to the HCAC tournament. Senior Ryan Johnson-Evers (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and junior Matt Hardman-Zimmerman (Forest City, PA/Home) were recognized for their work on the pitch this season.

Congressional hair cut

Don Overmyer gets his hair cut in Stoney's Barbershop on Veterans Day thanks to Congressman Jim Jordan (right). Overmyer, an Air Force vet, was among many area veterans who had haircuts paid for by the Fourth District Congressman on Nov. 11.

Blaze parade now at 80 units and there's still time for more entries

Want to be in a parade?

There’s still time to enter a unit or float in the Saturday, Nov. 28, Blaze of Lights parade.

As of Nov. 11 the parade has 80 units with a goal of 100, according to Junior Weihrauch, parade director. Based upon last year’s parade of 100 units, the parade will last one hour.

This year three new trophies are part of the parade awards.
Trophies follow:

Best floats
1 – First place trophy
2 – Second place trophy
3 – Third place trophy

Dr. Christine Denecker plays significant roll in "Humans of Findlay" book released on Nov. 17

They are kids, community leaders, artists, musicians, single moms, teachers and local “characters.” They all come together to present a cross-section of a community that’s uniquely. . . Findlay.

When “Humans of Findlay” goes on sale this month, area residents will have a chance to own a moment in time; a collection of stories that are, at once, nostalgic and offbeat. A collaboration between The University of Findlay and the Hancock Historical Museum, “Humans of Findlay” features approximately 180 profiles of local individuals drawn from a popular Facebook page.
