Suzanne McReynolds' cherry pie wins Maple Crest best of show

Is there anything more delicious than a homemade pie? 

Nearly 100 people got their fill of the homemade pies at the pie baking contest and spaghetti dinner hosted by Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Friday. 

This year, 24 pies were entered and judged in three different categories. 

Suzanne McReynolds won Best of Show with her Cherry Pie, winning the $100.00 grand prize. Each winner in the other categories received $50 for first, $25 for second and $15 for third place.

Bluffton 7th graders discover more than environmental science at Camp Berry

Bluffton Middle School seventh graders recently experienced Outdoor School at Camp Berry in Findlay.

Outdoor School is a three-day, two-night school that teaches students about environmental sciences, mathematics, social studies, and language arts.

Danny Justus was retired from Honda

Danny Lee Justus, 68, died Nov. 9, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  Danny was born June 1, 1947, in Hardin County to Adin and Marylyn (McDonald) Justus who preceded him in death. On Sept. 7, 1977 he married Connie Burden Justus and she survives.

Danny retired from Honda, Marysville, where he was a supervisor. He enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard and collected knives.  Danny also enjoyed truck driving, mechanics and farming.

Stanley Naylor was active in several Bluffton organizations

Stanley F. Naylor, 83, of Bluffton died at 7:45 p.m., Nov. 8, 2015, at Mennonite Memorial Home. 

He was born May 29, 1932, in Goshen, Ind., to Wilbur J. and Deltha (Metzler) Naylor. The family moved to Nappanee, Ind., where he grew up and graduated from high school in the class of 1950. 

He graduated from Bluffton College (University) in 1954 with a business degree and on Sept. 25 of that same year he married Ruth E. (Bundy) Naylor. They spent the next two years in alternative service at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Kenton host to 29th annual Christmas around the Square on Nov. 14

The 29th annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair takes place in Kenton on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hardin County Historic Courthouse in downtown Kenton.

Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, the Craft Fair features three floors filled with arts, crafts, and home party dealers. The Kenton Top 20 will perform holiday music at 9:30 a.m. Homemade food is provided by the Hardin County Homemakers.

If you ever need a team of auctioneers, we recommend (from left) Dennis Morrison, Greg Denecker and Kevin Gratz. They successfully raised several thousand dollars during the Bluffton Lions Club Foundation "Dare to Dream" wine tasting event on Nov. 3.
