We waited 45 years for this polo shirt

Bluffton Senior Citizens Center celebrates its 45th year in operation this fall. The Center offers special polo shirts with the organization's logo. Shirts are $16 each and eight sizes are available. Orders taken at the Center.

Ride to Remember offers several biking options on Saturday

You witnessed GOBA and now you can join a Bluffton bike ride on Saturday, July 11.

Bicycle enthusiasts may register for the inaugural Ride to Remember bicycle ride held  in Bluffton.

The event offers short bike routes for families interested in biking together all the way to a 100-mile route for experienced riders starting and ending at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Shirley's expanding with fourth store - this one in Findlay

Fresh off its recent announcement of two franchise locations in the Toledo and Columbus areas, Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company announced that its fourth Ohio store will open in Findlay this fall.

Franchisees Jennifer and Jason Swartzlander, of Bluffton, will own and operate a store in the Interstate Plaza, just off of I-75 on Trenton Avenue in Findlay. They say their deep connections to the community, belief in the Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn concept, and an ideal location made them confident in joining the Shirley’s family of franchisees.

Richard "Butch" Gladwell was retired from Mid-Bus

Richard M. "Butch" Gladwell, 75, of Columbus Grove died at He was born May 26, 1940, in Lima to the late Glenn and Margaret Smith Gladwell.  On Aug. 4, 1961 he married Virginia Williams and she survives.

He retired from Mid-Bus formerly of Bluffton.  He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, where he had been Sunday School Superintendent, youth leader and coached the church basketball and baseball teams.

Carlton McCree Cole, 1922-2015

Carlton McCree Cole, 93, of Alvada passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Birchaven Village, Findlay. He was born on January 4, 1922, to the late Carl M. and Hazel F. (Peters) Cole in Biglick Twp. Carlton married Esther C. Walter on January 7, 1942, and she survives after sharing 73 1/2 years together.

BFR tennis tourney rescheduled for Aug. 1; check all the other programing planned

The Bluffton Family Recreation tennis tournament rained out on June 27 is rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1.

The tournament includes singles play for high school players and doubles open for all age groups. The tournament includes double-elimination brackets.

Matches are played at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue and the Bluffton University courts on Rosenberger Drive.

Trophies will be awarded to the top two doubles players and in the top three singles players.
