Wilson will sign to play softball at UNO

Mackayla Wilson, Bluffton High School senior, will sign a letter of intent to play softball at the University of Northwestern Ohio on May 14, according to Alex Hanna, BHS athletic director.

Wilson has been a letter winner the past four seasons as Bluffton’s catcher. She is Bluffton’s single season home run record holder. She was also second team All Northwest Conference and the team’s most valuable player in 2014.

"Awesome" annual book sale at Book ReViews May 16

Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton, will hold its "awesome" annual book sale during the Saturday, May 16, Bluffton arts and crafts show, according to Dr. Christina Walton, store manager.

On Saturday in-store books are 50 percent off and tables of books are priced at 50 cents to $1. Visit the shop's booth at the festival. Also stop into the shop for some free books aned refreshments.

Book ReViews is an Et Cetera Shop Inc., nonprofit store with 50 percent of its proceeds supporting Mennonite world relief efforts.

Interdyne and Trans Vac under new ownership

Environmental and industrial service companies Interdyne Corporation and Trans Vac, Inc. are under new ownership. Long-time employees Clint Rolland and Bill Bresson joined previous owners Dan Lucke and Brad Prater. Lucke and Powell Prater purchased the companies in 1989.

“I was pleasantly surprised when asked about joining ownership in the companies where I have worked the last 21 years” said Rolland, “I am excited for this opportunity to grow professionally and I am ready to face the challenges that come with this new responsibility.”

Julaine Boehm honored for 55 years as Trinity Lutheran teacher

Julaine Boehm, teacher of children in Grades 3 and 4 at Trinity Lutheran School, Jenera, plans to retire at the end of this school year. 

She has taught at Trinity for 55 years. On Sunday, May 17, there will be one church service at Trinity, 301 N. Main St., at 10:30 a.m. followed by a noon meal and program at the school.

Lincoln Highway group visits Cairo auto collection May 19

The May meetingof the Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association is at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, at Biggie's Coast to Coast Restaurant, 116 E. Main St., Cairo.

After attendees order dinner individually from the menu, a small business meeting will take place and then the group will walk to 102 W. Main St. to visit the Tom and Carol Meredith automotive collecton. The public is invited.

Friends of the Library sponsor 2nd annual 5K Run/Walk for Literacy June 6

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will sponsor the 2nd annual 5K Run/Walk for Literacy on Saturday, June 6.

The race will start at 9 a.m.. Maps and Registration forms --$18 pre-registration (t-shirt included) or $20 after May 17 (no t-shirt) are available at the library or on the library's website (www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org).

Race day registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Bluffton Public Library in the lower level.
