Icon viewers shouldn’t be confused at all, because every year Maple Crest elder, Joanne Niswander, sets up a Monarch butterfly “nursery” complete with milk weed from her own garden for the little caterpillars to feed upon.

Traveling on the road again, the Bluffton Pirates football team faced another Blanchard Valley Conference opponent the (1-0) Van Buren Knights. The game started Friday night but was called in the third quarter due to lightning. The game concluded on Saturday afternoon.

After a score-less first quarter; the Van Buren Knights 22-yard field goal attempt was good putting them in the lead 3-0.

Gerald "Jerry" DeVon Brooks, 85, of Bluffton died at 12:45 p.m. Sept. 8, 2014, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Palmer Township, Putnam County to the late Malcolm and Violet (Preble) Brooks. On Aug. 14, 1953, he married Helen Burkholder, who survives.

Harold "Skeet" VanScoder, 88 died Sept. 9, 2014, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Samantha Fruchey had 5 kills in the Sept. 9, volleyball matches against Lima Central Catholic. LCC won the contest in 3 sets. Stats follow:

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, you must register by calling 419-384-3038 by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 15. Boxes will be available to be picked up at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 at at the Grace Mennonite Church, located at 502 East Main Street, Pandora.

The September meeting of the Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Van Wert County Historical Museum, 602 N. Washington St., Van Wert.

After dinner at 6 p.m., a history of the museum will be presented and guests will tour the collection.  Suggested donation for the dinner is $6.00. The public is invited.

The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora.

The meal this month is provided by Rebecca Circle. The menu will be ham slices, scalloped potatoes, green beans, dessert and beverage.

NCAA D3 rushing ranking

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A career day for Bluffton senior running back Eric Fox (Brunswick) has the standout Beaver at the top of the nation in rushing yards for NCAA Division 3 after a masterful performance in Salzman Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6. Fox wowed the opening-day crowd with 221 yards on just 26 carries (8.5 yards per carry), two of which went for touchdowns.
