Isabelle M. West, 97, of Bluffton, died Sept. 10, 2014, at Willow Ridge, Bluffton. Services will  begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton.  Other arrangements are pending.

Read on and you might see the glimmer of that idea taking hold. A group of BHS alums has planned a Bluffton High School get-together at Luke's Bar and Grill. 

Harold "Skeet" VanScoder, 88, of Pandora passed away September 9, 2014 at 4:30 a.m. at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. Skeet was born November 3, 1925 in Pandora to Harry and Caroline Schumacher VanScoder.  On September 26, 1959 he married Rosemary Higgins, who preceded him in death on April 21, 2011.

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., Bluffton, has several new specials, according to Marlena Ballinger.

The specials follow:

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Quick starts in all three sets propelled Ohio Northern to a convincing sweep of the Bluffton University volleyball team on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. Bluffton (8-1) fell from the ranks of the undefeated, while Ohio Northern improved to 7-2 on the season following the big rivalry win.

Bluffton area, add a new verb to your vocabulary— “geek.”

Bluffton Public Library announces the launch of its “Geek the Library” campaign beginning with a launch party onSaturday, Sept. 13. The party begins when the library’s doors open at 9:30 a.m. and continues until closing time at 2 p.m. 

Bluffton University remains in the top one-third of Midwest “regional colleges” in U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The 2015 edition of the magazine’s Best Colleges guidebook ranks Bluffton 28th among 95 comparable institutions in 11 Midwest states. Now listed in the U.S. News rankings for 17 consecutive years, Bluffton has consistently been ranked in the top tier of Midwest colleges.

In addition, in one of the rankings criteria—percentage of classes under 20 students—the university’s percentage rose to 64 percent, which no institution in the top five bettered.

The 2014 Bluffton High School Football Moms invite community groups to join this year's BHS homecoming parade, on Friday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.

The parade forms at The Centre and Bluffton swimming pool on North Main Street and Snider Road at 5:15 p.m., and will end at Harmon Field on College Avenue.
