A standing-room only audience of nearly 50 persons packed Bluffton council chambers on Monday. Most of those attending had a viewpoint to share about the Shannon Cemetery on Jefferson Street.
Eleven persons - residents, former residents, and others interested in cemetery preservation - addressed council, offering opinions on what should or should not take place there.

To help prepare for the Miss Ohio competition later in the month, five contestants from the Miss West Central Ohio program will present their talent, evening gown and on-stage interviews on Wednesday, June 3, at 7 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall at Bluffton University.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $5 per person at the door. A reception will follow with time for photos with the contestants.
Registrations are still being accepted for paint and sip events planned this summer by Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Marilyn Reed, class instructor.
Each event is from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evenings. The dates are June 11, July 16 and Aug. 6.
The programs take place at the Bluffton Sportsmen’s Club, 405 N. Spring St., Bluffton.
Registration is $35 per event and includes all art supplies, snacks and one glass of wine.

The open registration continues through Saturday, June 27. A pool party at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., on June 27. Hotdogs will be provided. Participants are invited to bring a small snack to share.
The cost per family to register for fall soccer is $50 for one child, $45 for the second child and $40 for the third child.
Area tennis players are invited to compete in a Bluffton Family Recreation tennis tournament set for Saturday, June 27, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
The tournament includes singles play for high school players and doubles open for all age groups. The tournament includes double-elimination brackets.
Matches are played at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue and the Bluffton University courts on Rosenberger Drive.
Trophies will be awarded to the top two doubles players and in the top three singles players.
Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a one evening high school dodge ball tournament, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

The tournament starts at 6 p.m., Friday, June 5, at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton. Registration fee is $35 per team and all games take place in the BFR gym.

Bluffton Family Recreation will host a British Soccer Camp for youth ages 3 to 18 from Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
The camp offers several class levels, times and registration fees for different age groups.
