Dr. Matthew Friesen, assistant professor of sociology, will present the Colloquium, "’Silver-tongued Bastards’ and ‘Used-Car Salesmen': Veteran Reflections on Military Recruitment,” at 4 p.m. on Sept. 22, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Jessica Reynolds, MD, has joined Surgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, part of Blanchard Valley Health System. Surgical Associates of Northwest Ohio is located at 300 West Wallace Street, Suite B1 in Findlay. Dr. Reynolds will provide general surgery services.
Dr. Reynolds specializes in robotic and minimally invasive procedures for hernias. She also helps with management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). She performs endoscopic procedures, such as Stretta and minimally invasive procedures, such as LINX for GERD management.

Exceptional Bluffton University alumni and faculty are honored each year during Homecoming weekend at the President’s Banquet. During the event, alumni and faculty who have reached milestones of achievement, service and giving are recognized.
This year, alumni awards will be presented to Dr. Marvin H. Hall, a 1977 graduate who will receive the Professional Achievement Award, and Barbara Stettler, associate professor emerita of family and consumer sciences, who will receive the Faculty/Staff Service Award.
Register for an Art Lesson with Janette Reineke, for ages 18 and up. On Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m., Mrs. Reineke will lead a lesson from her latest book, Fear No Art!: featuring a Georgia O’Keefe flower painting. A supply fee of 10 dollars is accepted at the door.
Choice One Engineering has submitted a $2.3 million application for safety funding money in the on-going State Route 103 corridor safety study, according to Joe Sehlhorst, Bluffton council member.
On Monday night Sehlhorst updated council members of the Sept. 7 discussions that took place in a council streets, lights and alleys committee meeting. Choice One Engineering, Sydney, created a safety study of the 103 corridor for the village.
