RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team dropped its HCAC opener at Earlham College by a 3-1 count on Saturday, Sept. 30. Bluffton slipped to 0-9 overall and 0-1 in the HCAC, while Earlham improved to 1-8 and 1-0 in the Heartland Conference.

HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team fell to Hanover College (25-23, 26-24, 25-17) in the first Heartland Conference matchup of the season on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Beavers are now 9-9 on the season and 0-1 in the HCAC. After two tight sets, Hanover went on a 9-0 run in the third en route to the sweep. The Panthers improved to 13-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - In fine fall conditions, the Bluffton men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the All-Ohio Championship meet at Cedarville University, the annual coming together of all the colleges and universities of all divisions across the state of Ohio on Friday, Sept. 29.

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees selected a search committee to find the university’s next president. The committee will vet potential candidates and will recommend qualified individuals for the board’s consideration.
“In appointing the search committee, we are using an almost identical committee structure as was used in 2005. This includes representation from: trustees, faculty, staff, a student, alumni, select church conferences, the Bluffton community and Mennonite Education Agency (MEA)” said Kent Yoder, Bluffton University Board of Trustees chair.
Emmanuel United Church of Christ's fall festivities day is Saturday, Oct. 21, at the church, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton. The event is from 4 to 6 p.m.
The event includes truck or treat, activities and crafts. Persons are invited to come dressed for Halloween. The event is open to the public.
Interstate 75's far right lane southbound and the southbound entrance and exta ramps at Hancock County Road 99, U.S. 224 and State Route 12 will be closed Monday, Oct. 2, frpom 9 a.m. until 7 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a Bubba C Barbecue from noon to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, at BFR, 215 Snider Road.
Presale tickets are available at BFR and from BFR board members. Tickets are $8 and include either a pulled pork sandwich or one-quarter chicken, macaroni and cheese and green beans.
Meals are for carry-out or eat-in at BFR.
