At our second meeting we elected officers.  They are:

The Beaverdam Bunch held a 4-H meeting this past Monday. Program booklets were handed out for the members.

A few demonstrations were given by our members. Brooke Camper explained to us about eating healthy and the good things it can do for you. Cierra Ackerman demonstrated how to take care of pests in a garden. Elizabeth Swisher talked about dehydration, it's symptoms and what you could do. Our next meeting will be in 4 weeks on May 20.

County Line Road - Hardin County Road 15 bridge rehabilitation in process

In late March, The Icon visited the bridge project that crosses Hog Creek on County Line Road - Hardin County Road 15, south of Bluffton. Here’s a one month progress report.

FROM ADA ICON - The bridge is closed until mid-June while undergoing rehabilitation, according to the Hardin County engineer’s office.

Lois Louise Thompson, 87, died April 25, 2019, at Hilty Memorial Home in Pandora. Lois was born June 5, 1931, in Kenton to the late Dale and Lula (Smith) Cummins.  She was married to Roger Thompson who survives in Pandora. 

Lois graduated from Indian Lake High School.  She had been a homemaker and worked at Konalrad Products in Pandora.  Lois was a member of the Pandora Missionary Church.

Dr. James Davidson, M.D., has Wednesday afternoon clinics in Bluffton

Dr. James Davidson, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, says he treat patients as if they are a member of his family.

“My approach is non-surgical, first. If that fails, then try surgery,” he said, during a conversation in the Bluffton Hospital Clinic earlier this week.

Dr. Davidson is a partner in Blanchard Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Findlay. He sees patients in Bluffton on Wednesday afternoons.

Visiting Ottawa-Glandorf swept all 10 sets to defeat Bluffton 5-0 in boys tennis action Wednesday evening.

The loss dropped the Pirates to 2-8 this spring.

Junior Drew Wilson lost 6-3, 6-0 at first singles to Carter Welch. Junior Neil Metzger was the only other Pirate to win a game at third singles in his loss to Kamron Maag.

O-G won the other three matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Bluffton hosts Wapakoneta today.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Inn at ONU

A public celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Inn at Ohio Northern University, Ada, for Thomas E. Coe, 80, who died March 31, 2019.  

He was born on Aug. 11, 1938, in Willard, Ohio, to the late James and Corinne (Greer) Coe. On Oct. 17, 1959 Tom married Ann Lowry and she survives in Bluffton.

Saturday's Bluffton High School junior-senior prom

Bluffton High School's 2019 junior-senior prom carries a "Glitz and Glamour" theme this weekend.

"A Night at Gatsby's - Glitz and Glamour," is from 8 to 11 p.m., Saturday, April 27, in Marbeck Center at Bluffton University.

Jamie Erford, BHS teacher, said that the public is invited to view the decorated Marbeck at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

One change to this year's prom is that the promenade takes place outside between Founders Hall and Marbeck Center - along the sidewalk, as Founders Hall, is not available.

122 N. Jackson St., across from the elementary school

Bluffton Pediatrics is now open in its new home at 122 N. Jackson St., across from the elementary school.

Beth Bish, APRN-CNP,  nurse practitioner, said that the practice saw its first patient at its new location on April 15.

The new location is the former Robert Neff and Associates, architect office. Originally, the building housed the practice of Dr. B.W. Travis, Bluffton general practitioner. In this way, the building has reverted back to a medical building.
