Cost, on-street parking, noise and artificial turf among topics discussed

On Monday, July 27, Bluffton Council conducted a public hearing on the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools (BEVS) request to vacate a portion of Vine St. to allow for the construction of a 1.2 acre athletic practice field. An active and sometimes emotional discussion included council members, school district representatives and residents, many of whom live near Lawn and Vine streets.

Jack Grant Reichenbach, 79, passed away July 27, 2025 at his residence in Bluffton. Jack was born October 18, 1945 in Bluffton to the late Herbert and Dorothy (Agner) Reichenbach. On July 8, 1970, he married Edith "Edie" Staley Reichenbach.

JULY 28 MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton American Legion Post 382, in partnership with the Village of Bluffton and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, extends sincere appreciation for previous support of American flags on display in the Village.
On Monday, July 28, Bluffton Council is scheduled to vote on the first reading of an ordinance to vacate a portion of Vine St. between N. Jackson and N. Lawn as requested by Bluffton Exempted Village Schools (as part of a proposed 1.2 acre artificial turf practice field).
The council will also hold a 7:05 p.m. public hearing on the topic.
Some aspects of the practice field design would require variances from Village code, a matter handled by the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Judy Lee Reichenbach, 82, passed away July 26, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. Judy was born August 28, 1942 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Leonard and Clara (Truan) Allen. On August 15, 1964 she married Larry Reichenbach.
Judy graduated from Union Grove High School, Union Grove, Wisconsin. She was a homemaker and had worked at various jobs including as a secretary at Ives Manufacturing and Johnsons Wax, as a keypunch at Lima Telephone Company, as a caterer for the Fruit Basket and had been a babysitter and worked with various after school programs.
Nancy E. Fultz, 85, passed away at Vancrest of Ada on July 25, 2025. She was born February 24, 1940 in Bluffton to Myrton and Grace (Layton) Packer, and grew up in Lafayette. A 1958 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School, Nancy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio Northern University, and later, a Master’s in Education from the University of Dayton.
Nancy married the late Donald E. Fultz on December 16, 1966, and together they raised their six children: Chris (Evelyn) Fultz of Lima, Cindy (John) Wagner of Bluffton, Becky Slayter of Lima, Scott Born, Dan (Kenna) Fultz of Springfield, Ohio and Katie Ochoa of Bluffton.
