In 2002, the movie Ice Age was released with a sloth as one of the characters. Sid the sloth is one of the animated animals that survived the Pleistocene ice age. Actor John Leguizamo is the voice of Sid. Numerous sequels have continued to be released based on the popularity of the original movie. Another sequel is slated to be released in 2027.

SEP 10 MEDIA RELEASE__On September 10, 2025, at approximately 08:33 A.M., the Lima Post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a four-vehicle crash on State Route 115, near US 30 in American Township, Allen County. 

Sean Triplett, age 40, of Florence Kentucky, was operating a 2009 Toyota Avalon northbound on State Route 115. Triplett drove left of center and struck a southbound 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Morgan Krouse, age 24, of Kalida. Triplett continued in the wrong of lane of travel and struck a southbound 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by Joann Kahle, age 60, of Fort Jennings. Kahle was forced off the right side of the roadway. Krouse was forced left of center and struck a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Thora George, age 30, of Lima. 

Traffic will be maintained during this closure, however please find an alternate route

SEPT 10 MEDIA RELEASE__Napoleon Rd. between Dixie Hwy. and Main St. in Beaverdam will be closed for a paving project on Thursday, September 11, from 7:00 a.m.-4:00 pm.

This closure includes Napoleon Road north of 1-75 on and off ramps.

Carolyn M. Gillam, 79, passed away September 9, 2025 at her residence.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost 5-0 to visiting traditional power Liberty-Benton in a non-league match at Steinmetz Field on Tuesday, September 9.

The Pirates fell to 2-5-2 with the home defeat.

The Eagles improved to 6-1-1 after the win.

L-B scored two goals in the first half, then tallied three more in the final 20 minutes to win going away.

Eagle Tayton Troyer started the scoring in the 27th minute. Lincoln Holler made it 2-0 with a score five minutes later.

HARROD__The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team swept local rival Allen East in the Northwest Conference spike opener on Tuesday, September 9.

The Pirate girls swept the Mustangs 25-17, 25-9, 25-21 to record their sixth straight win.

Bluffton improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in the NWC after the road win. AE fell to 2-6 and 0-1 in NWC play with the defeat.

Karlie Lora led the victors with 14 kills. Kendall Stackhouse smacked down 13 kills, while Lainey Grandey added nine kills.

ANNA__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 defensive struggle to Anna in a non-league bout on Tuesday, September 9.

The Pirate girls fell to 3-5 with the road defeat.

Anna, which plays in the Western Ohio Soccer League, improved its record to 5-3 after the low-scoring victory.

Rocket Adyson Bales scored in the 16th minute to provide the only goal of the game. Neither team scored over the final 64 minutes.

Bluffton fired eight of its 18 shots on goal. Anna put 11 of its 15 shots on target.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys golf team lost a tight Northwest Conference triangular match at Moose Landing Golf Club in Ottawa on Tuesday, September 9.

Allen East won the closely-contested match with 165 strokes, followed closely by Columbus Grove (167) and Bluffton (173).

The Pirates are 8-7 overall and 4-5 in NWC play after the match.

Mustang Brady Brooks earned match medalist status by shooting a round of 37. He was followed closely by teammate Levi Clum, who carded a 38 to finish second.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School girls golf team lost a match to Kalida at the Bluffton Golf Club on Tuesday, September 9.

The Wildcats won the non-league match, 197-216.

Katie Bauman paced Bluffton with a nine-hole score of 51.

Grace Schroeder of Kalida was match medalist after shooting a round of 46. Wildcat Kylie Peck finished second with a 49, while Madison Ricker was third at 49.

SEPT 3 MEDIA RELEASE__Jean-Marie Kamatali, professor and Ella A. and Ernest H. Fisher Chair of Law at Ohio Northern University, will speak on "WE THE PEOPLE: The Constitution as a Legal Instrument and a Manifestation of Popular Sovereignty" during Bluffton University's Constitution Day Forum at 11 a.m. on Sept. 16 in Yoder Recital Hall.
