Ann Benner, age 83, passed away at home on September 27, 2025, with her husband of 64 years by her side. Ann was born in McComb, Ohio, on May 8, 1942, to the late Dale and Pauline (Sheidler) Zeisloft. She is survived by her husband, Robert Benner; children Shari (Chris) Long of Hendersonville, TN; Jason Benner of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren Ava, Jack, Logan Benner; Stella Long; brother Dean (Kay) Zeisloft of Findlay, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Edwin Zeisloft of California.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team defeated visiting local rival Allen East 7-0 in the Div. V sectional finals at Steinmetz Field on Tuesday, October 14.

The Pirate girls improved to 9-8-1 with the win, while AE ended its season 2-12-1 after the defeat.

Bluffton’s Aubrey Burkholder scored three goals and dished out three assists to pace the onslaught.

Pirate Willow Derstine scored in the fourth minute on an assist by Greta Myers to put the hosts on top early.

Detective work by Village crew finds likely source of Community Pool leak

The Bluffton Council held a regular meeting on Monday, October 13 (packet attached HERE). The meeting included a report from Assistant Village Administrator Bryan Lloyd, who is hopeful that the long, difficult search for a water leak at the Community Pool is over.

MEDIA RELEASE__Dr. Scott Holland, professor emeritus of theology and culture at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind., will present "Henry David Thoreau's Personal Solitude and Public Solidarity or How to Befriend All Creation" during Bluffton University's Forum at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 in Yoder Recital Hall.

Holland will offer insights into Thoreau as a 19th-century American Poet-Naturalist whose spiritual solitude fostered a deep connection with all of creation.

William "Bill" O. Moyer, 87, passed away October 14, 2025, at Serenity Spring Senior Living in Arlington.

Bill was born on November 7, 1937, in Rawson, Ohio, to Earl and Rosemary (Benton) Moyer, who preceded him in death. On August 23, 1964, he married Beverly (Battles) Moyer, who preceded him in death on February 21, 2023.

The following Village of Bluffton meetings will take place at Bluffton Town Hall in the coming weeks.

FROM FACEBOOK__This Thursday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m., the Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora will host a meeting at the Bluffton Public Library. The topic is Fall Bulb Planting - Flowers and Garlic.

OCT 13 MEDIA RELEASE__A 6:00 p.m. meeting for Bluffton Area Women in Business will be held on Thursday, October 16. The meeting will be held on the third floor of Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

A program on marketing will be provided by Brienne Sprunger, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Bluffton University.

Traveling Tea Pots will be providing treats for all attendees.

The Village of Bluffton has announced a traffic survey being conducted by engineering students from Ohio Northern University to improve safety in the heart of Bluffton.

The survey can be taken HERE. It asks for "information regarding your personal thoughts on the current state of traffic congestion/safety."

The survey includes eight multiple-choice questions and one opportunity to write comments. 

The survey is also being distributed with a flyer and QR code.
