MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University welcomed alumni Dr. Jonathan Moyer ’02 back to campus as the featured speaker for the university’s 48th annual Keeney Peace Lecture, an event that invites the campus community to reflect on faith, justice and peacemaking in today’s world.
Daryl Eugene Amstutz passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Daryl was born on October 28, 1939, in Bluffton to the late Cleland and Esther (Huber) Amstutz. On May 25, 1992, he married Julie Field Amstutz and she survives.
Daryl graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a life-long farmer, bank appraiser and was instrumental in starting Northwest Recycling in Pandora. Daryl had attended Grace Mennonite Church in Pandora.
On January 24, the Bluffton-based dress company Super Cute Dresses featured the work of co-owner and designer Kariann Ringger in a Washington, D.C. fashion show in conjunction with the company’s Silver sponsorship of the National March for Life. The business is an online retailer of dresses for pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. This includes nursing, non-nursing, and mommy-and-me styles.
MEDIA RELEASE__The Swiss Community Historical Society will hold a Victorian Valentines Workshop for Kids on Saturday, February 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Swiss Heritage Center (Schumacher Homestead), 8350 Bixel Rd.
Children ages five and older are invited to attend. The registration fee of $1 for members and $3 for non-members includes materials, such as paper doilies, stickers and ribbons to craft several Valentines.
Esther Howland received the designation of the “Mother of the American Valentine,” for popularizing Valentine’s Day greeting cards in the late 1800s.
OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School swim teams each finished second in a five-team meet at the Putnam County YMCA on Monday, February 2.
Ottawa-Glandorf swept to first in both the boys and girls team standings. The O-G girls won with 119 points, while the Pirate girls were a distant second at 40.
Bluffton sophomore Kari Diller touched first in the girls 100 backstroke.
The Titan boys won with 84 points, followed by the Pirate boys (54).

MEDIA RELEASE__Candidates for Bluffton University’s Student Senate president will participate in a Presidential Debate Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Candidates will discuss campus issues, respond to questions and share their leadership visions for the student body.
TOLEDO__The visiting Bluffton High School boys basketball team utilized a huge second period to defeat non-conference foe Toledo Woodward 46-39 on Tuesday, February 3.
The game was tied 11-11 after the opening period. But a 17-1 Pirate second quarter blitzed the Polar Bears and gave Bluffton a 28-12 lead at halftime.
Woodward bounced back behind a 14-7 third period to edge within 35-26 heading into the fourth period.
