NAPOLEON__The Bluffton High school girls bowling team completed its first varsity season by competing in the Div. II sectional tournament hosted by Napoleon at the River City Bowl-a-Way Lanes on Thursday, February 12.

The Pirate girls finished in last place at the 13-team event.

“It is always sad when a season comes to the end, but the ladies really put in a strong performance today,” said head coach Ben Nye. “We have a solid group.”

MEDIA RELEASE__Hear Ye! Hear Ye!  We declared independence from England!.....250 years ago, that is!  Yes, our bold experiment in democratic independence is celebrating its 250th anniversary this summer. 

Why wait for summer, Bluffton?  Let’s celebrate all year long!  The Village of Bluffton will be celebrating 250 years of American Independence with events during each month in 2026.  The America 250 in Bluffton, Ohio, committee has planned events for all ages and members of your family. 

January saw our kick-off with a hymn sing exploring some of the hymns and singing practices present in the worship lives of our founding families. Also, some enjoyed the free admission Saturday matinee showing of the movie TRUE GRIT at the Shannon Theater. Kids and adults alike were considered for all activities planned this year.  All members of your family can participate and enjoy our monthly events.

Special midweek services for the season of Lent will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00  p.m.  at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera.

The Ash Wednesday service on February 18 will be led by Pastor Nicholas Lilienthal of Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Bowling Green.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be joining forces with members of the 6-State Trooper Project to focus on speed, safety belt and OVI enforcement on Interstate 75.

The three‐day initiative will begin Friday, February 13 and will continue through Sunday, February 15. The campaign will include the Kentucky State Police and Michigan State Police. The remaining members of the 6-State Trooper Project, Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and West Virginia State Police, will not participate due to Interstate 75 being outside their jurisdictions.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, February 13, 2026. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall.

The program will be provided by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio and Twisted Whisk Café will be providing the breakfast, which is served at 7 a.m. No RSVP is required.

On July 19, 2021, country music singers Jordan Davis and Luke Bryan released their song titled Buy Dirt. The song spent 25 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top Country Hits with two of those weeks being at number one. The song won the Country Music Association Award for Song of the Year in 2022. In an interview, Davis was once quoted about the meaning of the song and he felt it reflected faith, family, friends, and ultimately finding your happiness.

  • Saturday, March 28 9:00 a.m.- 12 noon

Organizers note, "We are still accepting CLEAN household items, antiques, collectibles, movies, glassware, dishes, books, magazines, tools, exercise equipment from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Ann G. Heimann, 71, passed away February 7, 2026 at Willow Ridge - Frieda House in Bluffton.

Ann was born April 13, 1954, in Aurora, Illinois, to the late Donald and Gloria (Kelly) Gates. On August 24, 1974, she married Tom Heimann, who survives.

Ann graduated from Urbana High School in Urbana, Illinois and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Bluffton College. She taught elementary at Columbus Grove and Continental schools and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton.
