FINDLAY__The Bluffton High School girls track and field team finished a strong second out of 11 teams at the chilly Liberty-Benton Invitational on Saturday, May 2. The Pirate boys placed 6th among 10 teams.
GIRLS RESULTS
Columbus Grove won the girls team title with 150.5 points. The Pirate girls scored 105.5 points to come in ahead of third-place Oak Harbor (100.5). Host L-B ended up fourth (82).
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team raced to a big early lead and whipped visiting Arlington 13-3 in a non-league game on a cold, damp Saturday, May 2.
Due to the inclement conditions, the scheduled doubleheader was reduced to one game.
The Pirates tallied five runs in the bottom of the first frame and never trailed. One run in the third, and three more Pirate scores in the fourth extended their lead to 9-1.

MAY 1 MEDIA RELEASE__With the return of warmer weather, drivers are beginning to see a larger number of motorcycles on roadways across Ohio. To ensure everyone makes it home safely, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is urging both motorists and riders to stay alert, share the road and always drive sober.
“By staying mindful of your surroundings and choosing to drive responsibly, you can help make the roads safer for everyone," said Governor Mike DeWine.
BLUFFTON __On May 1, Pirate senior Jenna Downey signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Ohio Northern University, where she will swim for the Polar Bears.
Downey is a three-time state qualifier and holds school records in the 50-yard freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. She is also part of record-setting teams in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay.
In addition to her success in the pool, she is a member of the Bluffton High School soccer team.
MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, May 8, 2026. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall.
The program will feature members of the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs Board of Directors, as well as Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition participants and winners.
The BCE will announce the winners of the 2026 Ropp-Triplett Business Plan Competition and and provide details about their new businesses ventures.
