Down by the old mill stream...it's close to Bluffton
Popular music history was made in nearby Findlay a little over 100 years ago when hometown boy Tell Taylor found inspiration in the Blanchard River and wrote the song, "Down By the Old Mill Stream." Taylor, who wrote more than 200 songs and a number of Broadway musical comedies, is remembered and honored in Findlay's Riverside Park. His story is etched in numerous rocks at the north end of the park and tell a fascinating story about the man and his rise to international musical success. Taylor died while on the way to Hollywood where a film was being made about his most popular song. He is buried not far from his childhood home.
