Mayor Richard Johnson conducted the December 8 regular meeting of the Bluffton Council, which included a report from a team of ONU Engineering students and the approval of several ordinances and resolutions by emergency to meet year-end deadlines.

Shanks 1st team, Giesige 2nd team

BLUFFTON–Three players from the Bluffton High School football team–Mason Shank, Tayte Giesige and Jackson Bowlus–earned Div. VI All-Ohio honors in recent voting by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association.

Mason Shank, a 6-2, 241-pound junior, was named to the first team as an offensive lineman. His blocking helped pave the way for the explosive Pirate offense to average a league-best 41.1 points per game.

Tony Jacomet will provide a program for the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, December 12 at 7:30 a.m. at Bluffton Town Hall.

In November 2025, two students at Jacomet’s Martial Arts, 121 S Main St, Bluffton, became the first Gen Yuan Kempo black belts produced at the school. What makes this even more special is that the two are father and son, Josh and Jason Gillespie.

Elvis Presley released Heartbreak Hotel in January 1956.  The song hit number one on the Billboard Top 100 and stayed there for 7 weeks.  The crossover hit stayed at number one for seventeen weeks on the Country & Western charts. The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1995. Many have covered the song, including a duet by Willie Nelson and Leon Russel.
