There are numerous types of healthcare providers a patient may encounter when interacting with the healthcare system, and at the highest level of training and expertise are physicians. In the United States, there are two main routes to earning a doctoral degree in medicine and the professional title of “physician”: the Doctor of (allopathic) Medicine (MD) and the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). The primary difference between these pathways lies in their underlying philosophy. 

Hannah Chappell-Dick will be inducted in the Eastern Mennonite University Athletic Hall of Honor in a ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, during Homecoming 2026. 

MEDIA RELEASE__A last-minute road trip led Hannah Chappell-Dick ’16 to Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), where she became one of the most accomplished distance runners in program history.

A biology major with minors in exercise science and honors, Chappell-Dick wasn’t initially focused on Mennonite colleges. She joined a friend traveling to Honors Weekend and quickly found herself drawn to EMU.

FROM ONU.EDU/NEWS__Fifty-one exquisite ceramic pieces crafted by Professor of Art Emeritus Bruce Chesser are currently on display at Ohio Northern University’s Elzay Gallery of Art through September 26.

While the exhibition serves as a retrospective of his artistry during his three decades at ONU, it omits what Chesser considers his true masterpiece: his students.

CONVOY__The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team lost in three sets to Northwest Conference foe Crestview to snap their seven-match win streak on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The Pirate girls dropped to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in NWC play after suffering their first league loss by a 25-20, 25-23, 25-20 count.

The Knight girls improved to 5-5 overall and ascended to first place in the NWC at 3-0 with the home sweep win.

Karlie Lora topped the Pirates with 12 kills and four blocks. Taylin Goldman knocked down six kills.
