The Bluffton’s girls golf team defeated Delphos Jefferson by the slimmest of margins Monday.  The Pirates shot 211 compared to Jefferson’s 212.  Ottoville only had two players play and submitted no team score. 

Alivia Koenig carded a 44 and medaled.  Mara Minnig shot 46, Kennedy Coughlan 48 and Jocelyn Ochoa 73 for Bluffton in the win.

Freshman Cole Koenig carded a 46 as Bluffton defeated Riverdale 198-200 in boys golf Monday.  Drew Wilson shot 48, Jordan Siefer 51.  Micah Minnig and Kenny Lovett carded 53 for BHS.  Falcon Andrew Kuenzil medaled with a 44. The Pirates are 4-2 in match play this season.

Steven A. Sutermeister, a 1963 Bluffton High School graduate of Flushing, Michigan, 72, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Rossell Funeral Home.

Pastor Jim Reid officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  A Masonic Memorial Service, under the auspices of Lodge #223 will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family for his grandchildren's educational funds.

Mary L. Schwab, 76, died Aug. 12, 2018, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  Mary was born April 6, 1942, in Lake City, Tennessee, to the late Johnnie and Geneva (Bennett) Powell.  On Nov. 19, 1960, she married Richard Schwab who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2013.

Mary graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School and was a homemaker.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. 

The Gold Seal of Approval and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.  

BVHS underwent a rigorous onsite review where Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with stroke-related standards and requirements, including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement.

Sunday evening - all the ice cream and music you can eat

Findlay High School’s steel drum band, Pantasia, will play at a free concert on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home (MMH), 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

MMH has hosted the annual Concert on the Lawn since 2005.  The Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Service Group will serve ice cream, and ice water will also be available.  Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and dress for the weather.
