The Bluffton University Nutrition Association’s annual spaghetti dinner to benefit the Lima-based Churches United Food Pantry (C.U.P.) will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton.

Nonperishable food items will be accepted, as will cash and checks made payable to C.U.P. In addition to spaghetti, the menu for the dinner includes bread, salad, dessert and refreshments.

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., will hold its its fourth annual "cans for cookies" event this month.

The event is Nov. 13 - 17. Here's how it works: Bring in canned goods to The Dough Hook and get a cookie for each item donated.

For example, bring in 12 items and get a dozen free cookies. All donated food will be given to the Bluffton Food Pantry.

In November 2006, Ohioans passed the Smoke-Free Workplace Act, making Ohio the 12th state to protect all workers and the public from exposure to secondhand smoke in public places.  Approximately 280,000 Ohio worksites are impacted by this law.

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, persons must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, by calling 419-384-3905. Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church, State Route 12.

The next Maple Crest Senior Living, Bluffton, Sunday buffet is  Nov. 11, according to Daren Lee, director of Maple Crest.

The menu includes:
• Apricot glazed turkey breast
• Ham

• Sweet potato casserole
• Mixed vegetables
• Cranberry bread
• Pumpkin pie
• Coffee and iced tea.
