Here's a photo of a muzzle and trap shoot event at the Bluffton centennial in 1961. This took place in what is now the practice field area of Harmon Field. If we are not mistaken the two young men standing on the far left are brothers, Rodney Stratton and Kip Stratton.

Is it possible that Jim Opperman is second from the far right? And who is the young man on his knees shooting. Looks like Ron Badertscher.

Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton, will hold a pie-baking contest on Friday, Nov. 9. The contest takes place at Maple Crest, 700 Maple Crest Court, just off Augsburger Road.

Pies to be judged must be delivered to Maple Crest by 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. Judging takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the Patio Room. All who enter must bring two pies of the same recipe. One pie is for judging, the second pie is for a silent auction.

Rikki Unterbrink takes "storytime" to the Shannon Theatre. This past weekend was the annual customer appreciation event at Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co. One of the events was a storytime for children presented by Unterbrink of the Bluffton Public Library staff. Click for a video.

Phil Zimmerly of Common Grounds is the guest speaker at the 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast. Zimmerly recently purchased and installed a coffee roaster in Common Grounds. He will talk about roasting coffee during the breakfast.

Several persons will be recognized during the breakfast including Junior Weihrauch of Arlington, the director of the Bluffton Blaze of Lights parade for 15 years.

Richland Manor will provide this month's breakfast. Serving begins at 7 a.m. The meeting is in the third floor of the town hall.
