Bluffton University awards top scholarships
Two incoming students at Bluffton University have been awarded the university's full-tuition Presidential Scholarships, valued at about $98,000 for four years, while three others have received Dean's Scholarships, worth roughly $73,500 over the same period.
Jared Horstman of Cloverdale, and Sarah Inskeep of Radnor, are the Presidential Scholarship recipients. Horstman, a 2010 graduate of Ottoville High School, is the son of Jerome and Emma Horstman, while Inskeep, the daughter of Dale and Bernadette Inskeep, is a 2010 Ridgedale High School graduate.
They were the winners of Bluffton's 12th annual Presidential Scholarship competition, which brought 82 high-achieving high school seniors to campus to write an essay in response to a faculty lecture and previously assigned readings. Invited students had grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and test scores of at least 25 on the ACT or 1,140 on the SAT.
Awarded for the second year, the Dean's Scholarships went to incoming students Kayla Mullenhour of Delphos; Natalie Nikitas of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and Nicole Swavel of Oceola. Mullenhour is a Delphos Jefferson High School graduate and the daughter of William and Bonnie Mullenhour, while Nikitas, the daughter of John and Carla Nikitas, graduated from Jeffersonville High School. The daughter of Jeffrie Swavel and Laurie Fox, Swavel is a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.
Both the Presidential and Dean's scholarships are renewable with GPAs of 3.0 or above at Bluffton.
